Organize Your Car in The New Year

Organize Your CarAt the beginning of each new year there seems to be a craze to get things organized. How can you organize your car? People spend a lot of time in their cars commuting, transporting kids to activities and going on road trips. Organization can make your life less hectic.

A good way to start is to give your vehicle a solid cleaning and figure out what you need to keep. Remove unnecessary clutter to get a good start. Then, depending on your lifestyle, you might find a few of the following organization tips helpful.

Car Organization Ideas

  • Glove compartment – How many insurance cards, receipts or other documents do you have floating around? Find a small folder, envelope or portfolio to collect and organize these documents for easy access.
  • Trunk clutter – What is rolling around your trunk? Keep what you need and place it in a small tote. This is a nice way to keep the contents of a survival kit all together in one place too.
  • Center Console – Get small sealable bag(s) or pouch(es) to gather up similar things, such as tissues and hand-sanitizer, to keep them from wandering throughout the vehicle.
  • Kid’s Stuff – Use a shower caddy or over-seat organizer to gather up all the kids supplies. Place books, toys, crayons, mittens and more in a place that is easy for kids to access and put away.
  • Pets – Does your furry companion travel with you? Consider getting a seat cover or using a blanket to cover the seat where they usually sit. Save yourself time cleaning up hair and paw prints.
  • Extra Compartments – Vehicles often have many little compartments built into the vehicle. Are you using them all effectively? Think about it, and make the most of your space.
